Captain Pat here... and thanks for looking us up.
This summer season marks Ventura's 30th year of chartering in New York Harbor, and her 21st under my stewardship -- who will be the next caretaker of this magnificent old girl, I wonder as she approaches 100 years old? Stay tuned, bu don't hold your breath, 'cause this sea dog isn't going anywhere soon!
So again, my thanks to so many "old shipmates" who sailed with us over the years. I certainly appreciate your support for a special boat and lifestyle. Even more, I value the on-going process that begins with clients and guests and evolves to friendships. Is this anyway to run a business? You're damn right it is!
The big news for 2008 is expansion of our operation in the Bahamas. It is not such a giant step, but more of a refinement of a lifestyle. We still feature the classic, out island experience of cruising aboard an ocean going sailboat to remote, pristine Bahamian islands and coves. But now we have added "The Troll," a 43' triple cabin houseboat, to the operation. "Troll" is homebase, your rendezvous point when you arrive, depart, or just want to sail back and hang.
I am writing this note aboard the boat now, at anchor in Joe's Sound, no boats around, no houses, no docks. A flock of West Indian Whistling Ducks live on nearby Hog Cay, there is a fresh-caught lobster waiting for the grill, and the first guests arrive later this month. I hope you will check it our on our website and sometime this summer chat with me about a week-long cruise in the winter. It is heaven on the water and designed for two couples who wish to really get away.
The information on this site shows all the relevant information for our 2008 sailing season, including our private
party sailing packages for day and evening sails and our public sailing schedule.
For non-private sails, our traditional Friday evening sunset sails continue, sailing through September.
We are also bringing back, once a month, the family-oriented Sunday bring-your-brunch sail.
Both of these sails are open to the general public --
come alone, bring a date, family or friends from the office.
Be sure to reserve in advance as we are very often sold out.

I encourage those interested in sailing with us on a spontaneous basis to sign up for the "Ventura Sailing News." (Only sailing news about Ventura and the periodic winter updates from my travels. No spam, no ads. Promise.) The sailing news gives you advance notice of any new or unusual open to the public trips, such as star gazing, or fireworks cruises.
To contact us for private parties, please call me direct at 212-786-1204, or via email: Captainpat@sailnewyork.com My personal email is niceyacht@aol.com.
Thanks again to all our "old shipmates" who have booked with us already this
summer, and welcome aboard to all who are new to our extended sailing
family! We are looking forward to seeing you aboard!
